This report provides an estimate of the economic impacts of travel in the state of
Colorado and its regions and counties from 1996 through 2006. The primary focus of
this report is on the impacts generated by overnight visitors (including domestic and
international visitors traveling for either business or leisure). Statewide estimates
of employment and earnings are also provided for total direct travel (which includes
day trips, travel services, and air passenger travel not related to visitors).
Secondary impacts are not included. A primary objective of this research is to provide
reliable, detailed figures that allow comparisons from year-to-year for the state
and county levels.
