Oregon State Park, Preliminary Market Assessment
The Oregon Department of Parks and Recreation had the opportunity to acquire, through land trade, a large site in the Coast Range foothills west of Portland for a proposed State Park. We performed a site development study that recommended development priorities and phasing. The project involved analyzing camping trends in Oregon and the Western US, assessing market conditions in the state and county, and determining the number of, and potential impact to, any complementary or competing facilities. Once site feasibility was determined and the land trade approved, we then analyzed individual and group RV, tent camping, trail system usage and day use patterns to develop recommendations for the scale and mix of camping and other uses. Stewart Stubb State Park opened in July of 2007.
